30% of all surges/outages are caused by lightning strikes
The strike doesn’t even have to be a direct hit on your home but can occur within half a mile. As a matter of fact, the majority of surges that most people take are from problems at someone else’s home or somewhere further down on the power company lines. A surge doesn’t have to be lightning; it can come from an automobile accident that hits a power pole or even from a routine maintenance on the main power lines when they turn the power back on. This off and on of the power with the main electrical lines can send surges into your home or business that I have seen destroy lots of electronic equipment and appliances.
Almost every home has multiple computers, and expensive home entertainment systems. Even our appliances are high-tech with monitors built into the doors of refrigerators and laundry appliances with electronic controls. These items are especially vulnerable to spikes in your home’s electrical current that may cause melted circuit boards and overheated wires. Repairs to these expensive gadgets are much more costly than replacing a blown out light bulb or electrical outlet.
There is no substitute for surge protectors plugged into your wall outlet that allows you to plug in all of your equipment for protection. This is the equivalent to using a seat belt that only goes across your waist and not your chest. By installing a whole house surge protector in your electrical panel, you’re adding protection. Let’s say you take a surge (or get in an accident). Would you want just a lap belt, or a full body protector?
No matter what you’re protecting, whether it is your family, your business, or your possessions, you should always be prepared and proactive instead of reactive. With simple surge protection, you could be saving yourself a lot of time and headache. This is as close to the “easy” button as you can get.

ElectricMan Inc. Earns Esteemed 2016 Angie’s List Super Service Award
Award reflects company’s consistently high level of customer service
ElectricMan Inc. has earned the home service industry’s coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award, reflecting an exemplary year of customer service to members of the local services marketplace and consumer review site in 2016.
This achievement is particularly significant as Angie’s List experienced unprecedented member growth in 2016. More than 1.6 million consumers, many of whom were eager to quickly hire highly qualified service pros, joined Angie’s List after the company added a new, free membership tier.
“Companies that can meet higher demands without missing a beat in their exemplary performance standards truly do stand apart from their peers,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “Only a fraction of the Electrical Contractor companies in Dallas/Fort Worth market were able to do it.”
Angie’s List Super Service Award 2016 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, which include an “A” rating in overall grade, recent grade, and review period grade. The SSA winners must also be in good standing with Angie’s List, pass a background check and abide by Angie’s List operational guidelines.
“We put the word ‘service’ back into ‘customer service.’ Well-trained technicians put your safety and needs first, not end-of-week quotas. Our employees are not on commission. We are your trusted source for all electrical needs and cutting-edge technology. Service and respect with family-owned values is what we do.”
Nick Schaeffer | Owner
Service company ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List as new, verified consumer reviews are submitted. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality.
For more than 21 years, Angie’s List restricted access to its verified reviews to consumers who paid membership fees. When the company removed that barrier, some companies worried that the new, non-paying members would not be as engaged as members of the past. Experience has shown, however, that these newly added members are just as engaged – across all age groups – as prior members. Also, because the company continues to adhere to its review verification process, there has been no degradation of review quality.
“The biggest change at Angie’s List is that we are connecting even more consumers to high quality service professionals,” Hicks said. “And that’s good for everyone.”
Angie’s List helps facilitate happy transactions between more than 4.5 million consumers nationwide and its collection of highly rated service providers in more than 720 categories of service, ranging from home improvement to health care. Built on a foundation of more than 10 million verified reviews of local service, Angie’s List connects consumers directly to its online marketplace of services from member-reviewed providers, and offers unique tools and support designed to improve the local service experience for both consumers and service professionals.
As a Top Dallas Electrician, in today’s economy, I’m amazed at all of the companies that have been losing their Better Business Bureau ratings due to sloppy work and customer service. In the last few months, the BBB has dropped business’ ratings, or their BBB listing entirely, due to sloppy workmanship and unacceptable customer service practices.
Here at ElectricMan Inc., where we strive on a daily basis to maintain our A+ rating as a BBB Accredited Business, we don’t understand this way of thinking. Customer service is what sets us apart from our competitors, and even in an economy where customers and businesses may be struggling, it is never acceptable to lower the quality of service or your customers’ experience.
How do we achieve this level of customer service?
Before employment, all of our technicians must pass a written in-house test that gives a true picture of how much experience and knowledge they have. This test cannot be passed by technical knowledge alone, but requires experience developed through time in the field, performing a wide variety of electrical projects successfully. This test eliminates any candidates that aren’t familiar with the proper procedures to exceed industry standards in their workmanship.
Unlike some businesses who simply collect references as a technicality, ElectricMan Inc. personally calls all of a candidate’s previous employers and personal references to verify their working habits and stability.
We perform a local, state, and nationwide criminal and sex offender background search.
We train all of our employees in the “ElectricMan Way” of doing business. Honesty and integrity always come first.
Our technicians work on an hourly basis, not commission, so there is no incentive for them to “upsell” our customers for something they don’t want or need.
Communication is key for both our company and our customers. All estimates, costs, and recommendations are communicated effectively upfront to ensure that there are no surprises in the cost of the services we will perform for you.
Most importantly, if a problem ever arises regarding the service that you have received or the workmanship of our technicians, we are always available to personally discuss and address your concerns to come up with a solution to ensure your satisfaction.
As the owner of ElectricMan Inc., I am so confident in our ability to satisfy our customers’ needs that I am including my personal mobile phone number here to ensure that our high level of customer service is never jeopardized. If you ever have any concerns regarding the level of service, or the quality of the work that you receive from ElectricMan Inc. please do not hesitate to reach out to me personally.
